Chris and Sarah’s Wedding

Written June 8, 2007 10:35 pm by Chad Kraus

I love weddings! Last weekend Mrs. Kraus and I flew to Minnesota for my best friend Chris’s wedding. We had a GREAT time! Not only is it perfect weather up there this time of year, but it was so fun seeing every one. We got there on Thursday at 2:30 and my other best friend Aaron picked us up from the airport. And yes, it is ok to have two best friends. Three amigos kinda thing. Anyway, the first thing we did was drive to Mankato for Chris’s bachelor party. As far as bachelor parties go, everyone was very well-behaved. We just hung out, played video games and ate some good food. I got to see Adam and Lisa’s pad and it was really nice.

After the party, the wife and I crashed at my mom’s new townhouse. It was very nice and I was really impressed with it. She seemed so happy too, and very proud of her new pad. Sounds like she really loves the neighbors and pretty much everything about the place. It was nice to see mom so excited.

Day 2 we drove to Sheldon, Iowa. We decorated the reception hall and had the rehearsal dinner, which was a luau in the park. Everyone had on Hawaiian shirts and we had burgers on the grill. We stayed at a hotel that night, and I had some fun with the buds sitting in the hot tub, watching a Twins game, teasing Chris about his last free night on Earth, and playing a little Clubhouse Games and Bomberman on DS.

Then Saturday was the big day! The wedding was very nice and everything went off without any problems. The bride and groom looked so happy, and everyone had huge smiles on their faces. Be sure to check out all the wedding pictures I have posted. Take a look at the gallery! We stayed in the hotel again that night, and the next morning we had breakfast at the Family Table. The happy couple opened their wedding gifts and we all said our goodbyes.

After that we head back to Aaron’s house, which by the way is very nice. We took a relaxing walk around his neighborhood and enjoyed the brisk air. The following day we flew home to Florida and it was back to work the same day.

The wife and I really enjoyed the trip. Ever since I started dating her I have joked about moving back to Minnesota. Only thing was, I was serious but it was a joke because she never would have gone for it. But after this trip she has changed her tune. I think she’s starting to like Minnesota, and she has made some friends there too. Could there be a change in the winds? You never know, but we’ll pray about it. One thing is for certain– if that turns out to be the case, it’s certainly a slightly colder wind than here!

What great pics from the wedding! FMD forever!! (Adam & Chris should have done the “antlers” too) Amanda, Minnesota really IS a great place to live. The cold winters aren’t so bad when you’ve got someone to snuggle up with. :o)

To the Moon Alice!

Written April 4, 2007 5:21 pm by Chad Kraus

Honeymoon that is! What a great trip Amanda and I had! We went on a 6-day Carnival cruise that stopped at Freeport Bahamas, Grand Cayman, and Costa Maya Mexico. We took a Jeep off-road in the Bahamas, held some sea turtles in Grand Cayman, and had the best beach break ever in Mexico. And don’t forget about the food, because I never will. WOW. The food on a cruise is amazing! Filet minon, prime rib, New York strip, lobster tail, grouper, my oh my!

The entire 2 weeks, starting with the weekend before the wedding when Aaron showed up in Florida, and all the way to the end of the honeymoon was probably the best 2 weeks of my life up to that point. With all the fun and family, I don’t know how life gets much better than that. But one of my clients said it best, “Every new day is the best day of your life with your new wife. Just always remember the reasons you fell in love with each other in the first place, and keep God as the center of your lives.” I think he’s right!

I also have to say it is all such a blur and it went so fast! Wow, I can’t believe it’s already over. John and his wife said that about their wedding too, and they were right.

Thanks again to everyone for such a wonderful wedding! Whether you helped with the wedding, were in the wedding, attended it, or sent a card saying you’d be there in spirit, thanks to you all. You made our wedding very special! Amanda and I will be working on thank you’s this next week, so “talk” to you all soon!

Who misses Florida already?

There is a lizard in my swimming pool…

This pool needs help!

This pool needs help!

The happiest day I had as a pool owner was the day I fired my pool care guy. He would constantly do a poor job, and I had reports from my neighbors that he would pull up to my house, get out of his truck, walk around the back, and leave after about 20 seconds without doing a thing.

This really started to tick me off after awhile so I decided I could do a better job, and I canned him. Little did I know just how terrible I would be at keeping my pool swimable. So today, after about 1 year of going it alone, I hired a new pool care guy– officially the new happiest day I have had as a pool owner.

I mean, I have guests coming to visit next month. Don’t they deserve the best, cleanest pool? I think so. I’ll cross my fingers and hope for the best with the new pool guy. His name is Bo, and he’s been doing pools for 19 years. I made it 1. He should be crazy good.

The last straw I had the other day, when I realized how much more green my pool was than clear or blue. Also, I found a lizard swimming in it, which just means there is no way there is enough chlorine in there. The day one realizes he hasn’t swam in his pool for 6 months, and there are small tropical climate creatures inhabiting it is kind of a wake up call. This is the first time I can remember literally throwing in the towel over something. I usually just keep trying harder until I have mastered the task at hand. Perhaps, with all the guests coming to visit in March I simply ran out of time. And so the lizard’s time has come.

Chad, glad to hear the pool is all cleaned up. I can’t wait to get down to FL and spend all day by your pool.

Starting a Blog

Written February 23, 2007 11:08 pm by Chad Kraus

With all the wedding planning going on and the events that will follow, I was looking for a way to communicate with family and friends. I have decided to start a Mr. and Mrs. Kraus Blog.

Amanda and I are looking forward to sharing stories and experiences with family and friends. In time I hope to have a very nice, functional blogging system, which I am in the process of writing myself. I will be able to include pictures, and you all will be able to comment on our articles and pictures. In fact, I have a new flickr account which now houses our pics.
