Inauguration Day 2009

Written January 20, 2009 9:53 pm by Chad Kraus

Barack Obama became our 44th president today. I’m feeling really excited about it all. I’m looking forward to seeing what this man can accomplish, and what he can inspire the American people to do. When he speaks, I just get the feeling that everything is going to be alright, that even though times are tougher right now, brighter days are ahead. I really hope that’s right.

I thought it was cool that Rick Warren led the prayer today. He did a good job, and I always like when someone acknowledges Jesus in front of a huge crowd. And Rick sure did that, in about 7 different languages.

I like the “First Family”. Barack’s kids seem so well-behaved, and watching the President and the first lady dance is like watching a new married couple in love. That’s kinda nice. I hope it’s inspiring to couples all over America.

Well, just thought I’d throw my 2 cents in. Man, I went back and forth so many times on who to vote for President because I thought either one would be good. My Republican background took over, and I voted for John, but you know… I’m pretty optimistic about Barack.

I Like Mike; Brian Williams Delightful

Written February 5, 2008 10:21 pm by Chad Kraus

I had Alpha course tonight at church until 8:30, but since then I’ve been watching Super Tuesday coverage on NBC. My wife is at intramural soccer, so I have control of the TV. I have a couple thoughts to share. I know a few weeks ago I took a test online that said I should vote for Obama. Well, if I had to pick a Democrat, that is probably who it would be. But I gotta say, “I like Mike.” I am very encouraged by Mike Huckabee’s success tonight. It would be the biggest political turnaround I’ve seen if Huckabee somehow overtook McCain with the remaining states, so I’m not going there. However, tonight really gives me hope for a McCain/Huckabee ticket. I know Mike probably hates hearing people congratulating him tonight that he could now be asked to be VP, but I think I could get excited about a ticket that had him on it even if only Vice Pres.

My second comment is about Brian Williams. He is absolutely delightful in that NBC anchor job. He’s quick, sharp, intelligent, and even shows glimpses of joy in what he does. It’s completely refreshing to watch, and I gotta say kudos to Brian Williams for making the news enjoyable. The way he interacted with his political guests was great, and he showed a lot of respect to everyone on his program, including Mike Huckabee, and that woman who used to write speeches for Reagan who’s name escapes me.

Sorry, Chad, I had to laugh at John’s comment… too funny

OK, so maybe men shouldn’t use words like “delightful” to describe other men… I left the door wide open on that one didn’t I?

I think Brian Williams’ lawyer called me by mistake, so I’m just passing on the message to you. The restraining order takes affect Friday and he wants you to stop writing and sending undergarments.

Here are some cool videos of Mike Huckabee sharing his faith. I think it’s refreshing!

I have to agree with you about Brian Williams. I enjoyed watching him when he was on MSNBC and it’s nice to see him anchoring on NBC and I think he’s a worthy replacement to Tom Brokaw.

Who Should You Vote For?

Written January 18, 2008 11:39 pm by Chad Kraus

We’ve all heard of Match.com and eHarmony. These sites ask singles to answer a few questions about themselves, and then tell them who they should date. Well now there is a website that uses a similar concept to help you determine which 2008 presidential candidate you should vote for.

What issues do you care about? This site asks you to rank the major political issues. You add more points to the ones you care about and then answer a series of questions related to those issues. Then when you are all done, the site calculates who you should vote for based on compatibility. You can try it: glassboth.org

I was surprised by the results when I did it. I’ve always considered myself VERY Republican. But when I really thought about the issues that are important to me, I came up with an interesting list that seems more moderate. They are environment and energy, education, taxes and the budget, and civil liberties and domestic security. My top match was a 76% match… Barack Obama. Second place was a tie between Mitt Romney and Hillary Clinton at 73%. Gotta say, didn’t see that one coming!

So, I am EXPECTING comments on this article. You can add comments by clicking the link at the bottom of this article. What are your results, and did they surprise you? I know my brother has something to say about my results, so come on bro let’s hear it.

While most people leave comments pertaining to the articles, my brother appears to be solely inspired by the Google ads…

The banner ad on your site was trying to persuade me to “Find an Asian Wife”… what is that about? I think this website is a cover for something else. Besides… the link didn’t even work.

You did not just say that… This is the part where I say, “The views expressed in the comments do not necessarily reflect the views of Mr. and Mrs. Kraus…”

I took the test again, and spread my points equally across more issues, just leaving out the ones that I really don’t have much opinion on. I got the same result…
