Phil Keaggy Concert

Written January 30, 2010 1:20 am by Chad Kraus

Tonight Mrs. Kraus and I had the pleasure of seeing Phil Keaggy in concert at our church.  He was the best guitarist I’ve ever seen live.  Phil not only possess amazing skill on the guitar, he also has a cool style where he records himself playing a riff, then loops it.  Plays another riff and loops it.  Drums on his guitar and loops it.  After a few of those, the riffs would all play together while he then went on to solo up and down the neck, with the sound of 3 or 4 other Phil Keaggy’s playing along with him.  It’s so rad.  In case I didn’t explain that very well, here is an example:

I came home after the concert and played my guitar for over 2 hours.  Thanks for the inspiration Phil!  By the way, in this video does it look like he is missing the middle finger on his right hand?

“I’m Not Who I Was” Tab

Here is a cool YouTube guitar tutorial on how to play “I’m Not Who I Was” by Brandon Heath. I first heard this song about a year ago when my wife bought Brandon’s album from the local Christian book store in Fort Myers. For any of my guitar-playing friends, give it a try!

Lyrics:

“I’m Not Who I Was” by Brandon Health

I wish you could see me now
I wish I could show you how
I’m not who I was
I used to be mad at you
A little on the hurt side too
But I’m not who I was

I found my way around
To forgiving you
Some time ago
But I never got to tell you so

I found us in a photograph
I saw me and I had to laugh
You know, I’m not who I was
You were there, you were right above me
And I wonder if you ever loved me
Just for who I was

When the pain came back again
Like a bitter friend
It was all that I could do
To keep myself from blaming you

I reckon it’s a funny thing
I figured out I can sing
Now I’m not who I was
I write about love and such
Maybe ’cause I want it so much
I’m not who I was

I was thinking maybe I
I should let you know
I am not the same
But I never did forget your name
Hello

Well the thing I find most amazing
In amazing grace
Is the chance to give it out
Maybe that’s what love is all about

I wish you could see me now
I wish I could show you how
I’m not who I was
